MATCH REPORT
Kempston II 0 - Vauxhall II 33
A much changed Kempston team took to the field for this Merit
league encounter. With many regulars missing and a completely new look pack,
something had to give. Two set piece errors in the first 10 minutes gifted the
hosts 2 converted tries. Kempston then found their feet against a suprisingly
strong Vauxhall oufit and by half time were looking the better team with only
indiscipline preventing them crossing the whitewash themselves.
Kempston began the second half as they had finished the first, and for ten
minutes kept the hosts pinned in their own half. However, a yellow card for
stamping saw Kempston reduced to 14 men which Vauxhall exploited adding 2
further tries during that 10 minute period. That effectively killed any chance
of a Kempston win.
The visitors continued to battle bravely to the end, but Vauxhall took advantage
of weaknesses around the fringes and prevented Kempston getting any ball to the
pace men out wide. Vauxhall finished the match by adding a superbly worked try
just before full time.
Final score 33-0.
The captain would like to thank all who played, especially those who played out
of their accustomed positions, and hopes to resume winning ways next week.
Thanks also to Vauxhall for the loan of two players. Much appreciated.
